When was the last time you went out for a lunch and order Bibimbap? Was it good? Was it spicy? I already mentioned this with my previous article but we all know that we love adventures not just physically but with trying different food that were not used to eat, then eventually we fell in love with this newly discovered dish and we tends to look for it every now and then.

Bibimbap looks like a complicated dish as there is a lot of side dishes, sauce and who knows. Hehehe.

Let's start with the meaning and origin of Bibimbap. Originally it was called "goldongban" which means mixing rice. In early 20th century as per Wikipedia, the word "bibimbap" was adopted.

Bibimbap was common to eat during new year's eve as they want to get rid of all side dishes before the new year starts. During farming season, farmers usually eat bibimbap as it was the easiest way to make food for a large number of people.

Bibimbap was first mention to a cookbook named "Siuijeonseo" with an unknown author from the late 19th century. There it was mentioned as "bubuimbap".

As per Wikipedia, bibimbap became famous as it was easy to make and it was serve to many airlines connecting South Korea.

The picture above is Salmon Bibimbap, it consist of a cup of rice, carrots, sayote, mushroom, fish meat, lettuce, pickeled radish, monggo sprouts, raw egg and gochujang or red pepper paste.

I was a bit disappointed with the serving as they only used driend fish instead of a fresh fish meat but who am I to complain? The place was offering an affordable Korean dishes and that made me visit them again.

But now I know how to make my own just like making my own Gimbap. I decided to make my own when I was with my partner walking and talking what will be our dinner last August 8 this year and then POP💡, I decided to make Bibimbap.

Its actually the same with making Gimbap there is NO RULES. I listed everything you need to have in order to make your own bibimbap, my way. Feel free to innovate or alter my recipe.

1. Salt and Pepper
2. Sesame Oil - this is common with Korean dishes so I used it to sautèd my ingridients to get the nutty flavor.
3. Steam rice
4. Eggs - I prefer to have raw eggs on top of my rice but I don't have any dolsot or the stone bowl where there were cooking bibimbap so I ended up with sunny side up.
5. Carrots - cut into strips.
6. Oyster Mushroom🍄🍄🍄 - I prefer to use Shiitake due to the fungus umami but its not available in the store where I bought my ingridients but any mushroom will do.
7. Kimchi - I used my homemade kimchi for my homemade bibimbap.
8. Zucchini - Cut inti strips or you can peel it so you can have a very thing strips.
9. Ground Meat - Koreans usually use pork but I used beef meat.
10. Onions - I prefer to use white Onions but it depends on what is available.
11. Soy Sauce
12. Sugar
13. Gochujang / Korean Red Pepper Paste

As you can see there is actually no measurement for all of the ingridients because it will always be according to your taste.

Procedure.
1. Put a little bit of Sesame Oil in a pan. Sautè Carrots then set aside.
2. Put a little bit of Sesame Oil in a pan. Sautè Zucchini then set aside.
3. Again put some oil. It should always be a small amount of oil as we don't want our dish to be oily. Sautè Onion until translucent then add mushroom of your choice. Put some salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
4. Sautè Onion until it becomes translucent then add your meat, add soy sauce and sugar to make a basic bulgogi sauce. Set aside.
5. Fry some eggs (this can be #1, but i prefer my sunny side to have a little bit of bulgogi sauce. Set aside.
6. Get a bowl of rice and arrange your side dishes with sunny side up on top of the rice.
7. Add Gochujang or Bibimbap sauce for toppings.

And here comes the finish product...

Thanks for reading. 🐒

Harry Potter and Ron Weasley in Prof. Snape's class Have you ever wondered how they can write on a parchment using ink in a bottle and a feather with or without a metal point? It is called CALLIGRAPHY. Aren't you curious how it works? Have you ever think if you can also do it? If you have the same questions in your mind then you are reading the right article. But, where do you or I start? Here's how I started. Since I was a child I was always asking question how do they do that? I need a manual or something that I can read and follow or imitate. So when I started working i...
